UPDATE: 5:14 PM According to readers of BocaNewsNow.com, “Clix,” a gamer, was purportedly streaming “Fortnight” in the mall. This somehow resulted in a danger, or the perception that there had been a threat, at the mall.
Readers who have sent video and photos to BocaNewsNow.com claim that he is being questioned by Boca Raton Police, though they have not yet provided any details. Witnesses at the site claim that Boca Raton Police are questioning a gamer who readers have named “Clix.”
A NEW UPDATE AT 5:10 PM According to sources who spoke with BocaNewsNow.com, it all began when a well-known gamer—whom we are not naming at this time—was streaming on “Fortnight” and, in some way, threatened or called in a threat against the mall while hundreds of others were watching. Why Boca PD has not yet disclosed this information is unknown to us.
UPDATE at 5:04 p.m.: Not much information has been released by the Boca Raton Police Department regarding the current situation at the Boca Raton Town Centre Mall. In response to a request for information, a police spokesman delayed responding for several minutes before posting a generic statement on Facebook, then X.
According to witnesses at the site, someone may have reported that there was a gunman at the mall or in the parking lot, threatening the police or the mall.
The mall has been evacuated as a result, but several people tell BocaNewsNow.com that they are being “held” for safety in the mall’s back rooms and other store spaces. Why Boca PD is taking so long to reply to requests for information is unknown.
UPDATE: The Boca Raton Police Department decided to share material on Facebook without consulting the media, for unknown reasons. The mall was threatened, according to someone.
“A caller from Town Center’s north parking lot in Boca Raton made a threat, which Boca Raton Police are looking into. While the issue is being looked into further, PLEASE LEAVE THE AREA via the south side of the property.
