Tom Volkert Death Belmont MA: Director of Genome Core at Whitehead Institute has died

Tom Volkert Death Belmont MA – Thomas Volkert affectionately known to many as “Tom Volkert” of Cambridge, Massachusetts has passed away. He was announced dead through social media publications.

Tom Volkert, the director of the Genome Technology Core at the Whitehead Institute died on Friday unexpectedly, according to reports. No cause of death was reported for Tom Volkert.

“It is in this light that with great sadness I write to tell you that our friend, Tom Volkert, died unexpectedly on Friday. I ask that you please hold Tom’s family – his wife Angela and their sons – in your thoughts during this difficult time. I will share any information about services, memorials, etc., with the ABRF family as soon as I can. Please feel free to share your thoughts and memories here about Tom.”

Who was Tom Volkert?
While ABRF was established as a professional society for shared resources, for many members, it has become much more—an extended family filled with dear friends and remarkable individuals.

Though Tom was never an officer of ABRF or the head of a committee, he was an integral part of the community. He served as the director of the Genome Technology Core at the Whitehead Institute.

In the many years since it has been a true privilege to work with Tom as a colleague and as a friend. Tom worked as a Vice President of Genomics and Consultant at the Paratus Sciences. He graduated from Middlebury College where he earned his B.A. in biochemistry. Tom also received his M.S., in Molecular Biology and Biotechnology from Tufts University.
