Teigan Martin USF Mayer MN Death – A 20-year-old Mayer man has died following a deadly car accident that happened on Monday morning in Hollywood Township. The victim has been identified as Teigan Martin of Mayer, Minnesota.
Former Mayer Lutheran standout athlete Teigan Martin passed away from injuries sustained from the motor vehicle crash, according to a news release from the Carver County Sheriff’s Office. Thoughts and prayers to the Martins during this tragic time.
What happened to Teigan Martin?
A 20-year-old was killed in a crash in Hollywood Township on Monday morning. First responders were called to the scene around 5:05 a.m. on County Road 122, east of County Road 21.
Upon arrival, deputies found a BMW M5 in the north ditch of County Road 122. The driver, identified as 20-year-old Teigan John Martin, was pronounced dead at the scene, according to authorities.
Investigators believe Martin was speeding eastbound on County Road 122 when he crossed into the westbound lane, veered into the ditch, and rolled. Authorities suspect that speed may have been a contributing factor in the crash. The crash is under investigation.
About Teigan Martin
Teigan was born in Mayer, Minnesota, to Kathy and Daniel Martin. He graduated from Mayer Lutheran High School, where he was an all-state selection in his senior year.
Teigan played a pivotal role in leading Mayer Lutheran to a state championship, earning district MVP and All-Metro second-team honours. As a junior, he was recognized as the All-Metro first-team for both offense and defense. In his sophomore season, he amassed over 700 receiving yards, averaging 30 yards per reception.
Teigan was highly recruited, receiving a three-star rating from 247Sports.com, ESPN, and ON3 Sports. He signed with Liberty University out of high school, despite offers from Iowa State, South Dakota State, North Dakota State, and Western Illinois. In addition to football, Teigan excelled in basketball and golf, averaging 20 points per game during his junior year and surpassing 1,000 career points.
He even received a Division I basketball offer from Western Illinois. After spending the 2022 season at Liberty, Teigan joined the University of South Florida (USF) in January 2023. An athletic tight end, he brings with him four seasons of eligibility and the experience of leading his high school team to a Minnesota state title.
