Tamara Willard Obituary – Authorities said the death of a 23-year-old in Horry County is now being investigated as a homicide.
Horry County Chief Deputy Coroner Tamara Willard said Tuesday that Wismea Harris was found dead by his family just inside the door of their home on Long Branch Swamp Road Sunday morning.
An autopsy also found Harris had “sharp instrument injuries to his upper body” and that his time of death was determined to be just after midnight. Willard said the Horry County Police Department is investigating his death.
A police report obtained on Monday states officers from the Horry County Police Department arrived at the scene after reports someone, later identified as Harris, was found unresponsive.
Wanda Harris, Wismea’s mother, told WMBF News she came home after midnight on Sunday to find him lying on the floor of her trailer.
“I saw blood around his neck and his back,” she said. “I tried to do CPR on him and nothing would work so I went ahead and called 911.”
Wanda Harris also said her son was “well-mannered” but did suffer from schizophrenia. According to her, he was on medication and working – adding that sometimes his medication caused him to pass out.
When speaking on Monday, Wanda Harris also said she suspected foul play in her son’s death.
“The devil is alive. You will be caught. It will be seen what happened to my son,” she said.
In the wake of this tragic incident, we extend our deepest condolences to the families affected by this heart-wrenching loss. As they grapple with the indescribable pain of bidding farewell to their loved ones, we share in their sorrow and stand in solidarity during this time of profound grief.
