St. John Bosco High School Shooting – A tragic shooting occurred at St. John Bosco High School in Bellflower, where a man attending his son’s youth football game was fatally shot in the parking lot on Saturday morning.
The incident took place around 8:30 a.m. in the 13600 block of Bellflower Boulevard, as families gathered for the football game at the school’s stadium.
According to Lt. Hugo Reynaga from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, the victim, a parent of one of the young players, was shot while sitting in his car in the parking lot.
The man was rushed to a hospital but tragically succumbed to his injuries. Reynaga mentioned that the victim’s child, who was participating in the Pop Warner football game, was not in the car at the time of the shooting. A passenger who was with the victim in the vehicle was unharmed.
Witnesses reported that two suspects, driving a separate vehicle, approached the victim’s car and opened fire before fleeing the scene. Video footage from the parking lot showed the victim’s car riddled with bullet holes in the windshield, with the area cordoned off by crime scene tape.
Authorities confirmed that the victim’s car had been reported stolen from Lynwood, though the circumstances surrounding the auto theft are still under investigation. The motive for the shooting remains unclear, and there were no reports of a confrontation leading up to the incident.
No arrests have been made, and authorities are working to retrieve security camera footage from the parking lot. Anyone with information is urged to contact the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Homicide Bureau.
School was not in session at the time, and no threats were made to the school or the youth football event.
