Siris Catching Shooting Death – Man killed after alleged ‘dispute over woman’ in Jackson; Suspect Joshua Taylor arrested

Suspect 22-year-old Joshua Taylor, barricaded himself in a nearby residence, where officers subsequently arrested him.

A man has been apprehended following a fatal shooting in Jackson, occurring in the 1700 block of Barrett Avenue.

Jackson Police Chief Joseph Wade reported that officers were dispatched around 2:30 p.m.

Monday after receiving reports of a man shot and killed. Upon arrival, they discovered 22-year-old Siris Catching deceased.

The alleged perpetrator, 22-year-old Joshua Taylor, barricaded himself in a nearby residence, where officers subsequently arrested him.

Investigations revealed a prior acquaintance between Catching and Taylor. While Chief Wade stated he is unaware of the specifics of their relationship, he suspects it may have involved a dispute over a woman.

Additionally, two other individuals found in the barricaded house are under custody as authorities seek to determine their involvement, if any, in the incident.

Beyond the immediate loss of life, shooting violence perpetuates a cycle of retaliation and vengeance, perpetuating a culture of fear and hostility.
