Shooting in Forney, Texas – Two officers shot, suspect dead in Forney store shooting
Early Saturday morning, a Kaufman County sheriff’s deputy and a Crandall police officer were injured in a shooting while responding to a panic alarm at a Texas Pride convenience store.
According to Kaufman County Sheriff Bryan Beavers, the officers were dispatched to the store, located in the 5500 block of FM 741, just after 3 a.m. Upon arrival, they encountered a suspect who opened fire on them.
Both officers sustained gunshot wounds and were transported to Baylor University Medical Center in Dallas where they are currently recovering. In the ensuing exchange of gunfire, the suspect was fatally wounded.
The Texas Rangers have initiated an investigation into the incident. The identities of the officers and the deceased suspect have not yet been released.
