A Little Bit about the Actress
Texas native, Duvall started her acting career after being spotted by director Robert Altman, who placed her in the 1970 black comedy Brewster McCloud after being pleased with her positive demeanor. She continued to work with Altman despite her reluctance to pursue acting, making appearances in Thieves Like Us (1974) and McCabe & Mrs. Miller (1971). Her big break came from Altman’s beloved 1975 picture Nashville. She also received a lot of praise for her performance in the drama 3 Women (1977), which was also directed by Altman. For it, she was nominated for the British Academy Film Award’s Best Actress in a Leading Role and won the Cannes Film Festival’s Best Actress Award.
