About Sean Richmond
In addition to winning two state individual tournaments, he was a member of Easton’s basketball team that won four consecutive PIAA Class 3A team tournaments. Richmond was the only wrestling coach in the area who also served as an athletic director.
He received his degree from the University of Pittsburgh in 2008 and was the only one on the team. During his eight years as head coach of the Stroudsburg wrestling team, he was responsible for making it one of the most successful programs in the region.
The sole head coaching job that the son of David and Tammy Richmond ever held resulted in a record of 109-42, including a record of 12-7 this season at Stroudsburg. There was a time when he worked as an assistant at his alma university.
The current Nebraska 184-pounder, Lenny Pinto, was coached by Richmond to three consecutive finals in the District 11 and Northeast Regional competitions, as well as a championship in the PIAA Class 3A competition in 2020. It was almost six o’clock on Sunday evening when a GoFundMe online fundraiser that had been established to support Richmond’s family had raised roughly $19,000 of its $20,000 target.
In the wake of this tragic incident, we extend our deepest condolences to the families affected by this heart-wrenching loss. As they grapple with the indescribable pain of bidding farewell to their loved ones, we share in their sorrow and stand in solidarity during this time of profound grief.
