Scott Korogodsky Retreat Behavioral Health Death, Wheeling, Illinois Obituary: Wheeling, Illinois resident and Retreat Behavioral Health’s Chief Administrative Officer Scott Korogodsky has tragically passed away.
Scott died from an apparent suicide this week, Palm Beach County Medical Examiner’s. Scott Korogodsky was found dead barely a week after the company’s CEO Peter Schorr died from suicide.
Retreat Behavioral Health Bankruptcy and Closure
The Lancaster County treatment clinic will close following the tragic death of the company’s CEO. Retreat Behavioral Health has two campuses in Lancaster County, as well as additional clinics in Florida and Connecticut.
Retreat Behavioral Health, a multi-state corporation with locations in Ephrata and Akron in Lancaster County, is closing due to insolvency, according to internal emails.
Retreat Behavioral Health, in addition to its Lancaster County locations, operates drug, alcohol, and mental health treatment facilities in Florida and Connecticut. According to the internal emails, the company’s leadership acknowledged previous payment delays and blamed them on faults with its payroll processing system.
As of Wednesday, three patients remained at the Ephrata inpatient facility, which had accommodation for over 100. They are likely to be discharged and moved to other facilities, and the Ephrata and Akron locations closed, by the end of the week.
The Connecticut office appears to have been closed indefinitely following a 17 million foreclosure lawsuit in Florida. The company’s New Haven site director, Jarel Gallman confirmed that he decided to close the facility amid financial problems at the time of the CEO’s death and an inability to pay workers.
Scott Korogodsky Cause Of Death
Schorr’s funeral was conducted on Tuesday in Valhalla, New York. The medical examiner in Palm Beach County, Florida, where Schorr died, indicated that restrictions specified in state public records legislation preclude her from publishing the cause of death.
In March, the legislature added an exemption to the provision prohibiting the release of autopsies in cases of suicide. Schorr’s family has asked that any donations made in his memory be directed to suicide prevention groups.
Meanwhile, the Palm Beach County medical examiner’s office verified that Behavioral Health’s Scott Korogodsky passed away on Wednesday. Korogodsky is listed as the chief administrative officer here and here. According to a staffer at the Lancaster, Pennsylvania Retreat facility, Korogodsky took over as acting CEO following Schorr’s death last week. The West Palm Beach TV news station WPTV confirmed with local police that Korogodsky committed suicide.
