Samuel Gonin Besançon Suicide, Suspect in Lina’s disappearance case died by self hanging on July 10

Samuel Gonin Besançon Suicide – On July 10, the body of Samuel Gonin, 43, who was a main suspect in the investigation into Lina’s abduction, was discovered at his residence in Besançon (Doubs).

The circumstances surrounding his passing are currently being looked into by authorities. In the years leading up to Lina’s abduction, Gonin, who resided in Besancon, had a troublesome history of getting into violent situations.

The assaults on two women that Gonin committed took place on August 25, 2023, one month prior to Lina’s disappearance. After aggressively ripping her bag and throwing her to the ground, his first victim, a woman who was 90 years old, sustained many bruises and a fractured femur.

Furthermore, he ripped her bag. In the later hours of the same day, Gonin robbed a cashier at a grocery store in Vival, threatening her with a knife before making off with the money.

As a result of the publication of surveillance footage in June 2024, Gonin was recognized and taken into custody by the police. This individual was supposed to make an appearance before the Besançon Correctional Court on the 22nd of July.

Gonin had a history of psychiatric disorders, including a previous attempt at suicide and multiple admissions to a psychiatric facility. He had also tried suicide in the past. In spite of the fact that he had a criminal history, Gonin had already served all of his prison sentences.
