Ryan Lantz Obituary Update, Memorial services announced for Liberty High School teacher Ryan Lantz killed in tragic accident
Memorial services for Ryan Lantz, 52, a teacher and coach at Liberty High School who died in an accident at the school on Tuesday, are scheduled for this weekend.
According to his obituary, Lantz’s family members will receive friends at Lifepointe Church at 2551 Buckhannon Pike in Mt. Clare from 5-8 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 23 and from 2-4 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 24. A memorial service will follow the visitation at 4 p.m. on Saturday.
Lantz was a loved teacher and coach for multiple teams, including Liberty Middle School football, Liberty High School football, Liberty High School boys basketball and Robert C. Byrd High School boys freshman basketball. He was also a former youth pastor and church camp pastor, according to his obituary.
Lantz died on Feb. 20 after he was hit by a vehicle before school in the Liberty High School parking lot.
On Tuesday evening, students and community members gathered at the Liberty High School football field for a candlelit vigil to honor Coach Lantz. And on Wednesday, schools across Harrison County wore red, white and blue to show their support for those affected by Lantz’s death.
