Rodney Terry Death Town Creek, Shift supervisor killed by accidental decapitation at GE Appliances plant in Decatur

Rodney Terry Death Town Creek – A spokeswoman for GE Appliances confirmed the death of an employee after Decatur Fire & Rescue EMS responded to an entrapment call at the refrigeration plant on Wednesday morning.

The shift supervisor’s head became caught in the chains, resulting in the tragic decapitation. An employee was killed after an incident at the GE Appliances Plant in Decatur.

Morgan County Coroner Jeff Chunn confirmed the victim was 58-year-old Rodney Terry of Town Creek. His death was ruled an accident. “The GE Appliances team is deeply saddened by the loss of one of our employees this morning at our Decatur refrigeration plant,” spokeswoman Julie Wood stated.

“We are working with local law enforcement to understand the cause of this tragic accident and are reaching out to the employee’s family to offer our assistance.”

First shift at the plant was sent home, and second shift production has been canceled “out of respect” for the team. “Additional employee assistance program resources are being made available to our employees in Decatur,” Wood added.

Decatur Fire and Rescue EMS reported that crews were called to the plant for an “entrapment involving a piece of machinery.” The call came in at around 9:22 a.m. Morgan County Coroner Jeff Chunn confirmed that he was also called to the scene but did not provide further details.
