Robert J. Fox Obituary Wilmette, IL: Junior at Christ School, Robert Fox died in North Carolina accident

Robert J. Fox Obituary – There was a horrible event that took place on Saturday night in North Carolina, which resulted in the deaths of two people, one of whom was a teenager from Wilmette.

Reports from the North Carolina State Highway Patrol indicate that Robert “RJ” Fox, who was 19 years old at the time, was one of the casualties of a single-car incident that occurred on April 6 at approximately 11:30 p.m. in Buncombe County, which is located just outside of Asheville.

Fox, who was sat in the rear seat of the Volvo sedan that was involved in the collision, was one of the six teens who were in the vehicle.

Sophie Gordon Death
There was a loss of control of the vehicle on Interstate 40, which caused it to deviate off the road and collide with a tree. Sophie Gordon, who was 16 years old and from Charlotte, was another passenger who passed away as a result of the accident.

Two other passengers sustained life-threatening injuries. In accordance with the findings of the highway patrol, the two surviving occupants, including the driver, were found to have incurred minor injuries.

It appears from the preliminary investigations that the vehicle was traveling at an excessive speed, which made it impossible to navigate the off-ramp, which ultimately resulted in the loss of control of the vehicle.

As the awful event unfolded, Fox and the other passengers had been attending the prom at Christ School, which is located in the central business district of Asheville.

It was confirmed by Dr. Sean Jenkins, the Head of School, that Fox, a junior at Christ School, had traveled back to the campus with other people who had attended the prom aboard a school bus following the event.

Investigation ongoing
Despite the fact that an investigation into the incident is now being carried out, no charges have been brought up as of yet. It has been reported by the administrators at New Trier High School that Fox, who will graduate from Wilmette Junior High School in the year 2020, had attended New Trier High School throughout his freshman year.

Fox was a student at Christ School, an all-male boarding school located in Arden, North Carolina, at the time of his dying. He was a member of the Class of 2025 at the time of his passing.

In 2023, he was the recipient of a nomination for Christ School’s Student and Residential Life Award in appreciation of his dedication to service. He was well-known for his scholastic excellence, as seen by his presence on the honor roll.

Fox was also an active participant on the Christ School lacrosse squad during his time there. In the game that was his last, which took place on April 5th, he ended up scoring two goals and winning the match.

In the wake of this tragic incident, we extend our deepest condolences to the families affected by this heart-wrenching loss. As they grapple with the indescribable pain of bidding farewell to their loved ones, we share in their sorrow and stand in solidarity during this time of profound grief.
