Rebecca Marodi Ramona CA Death – An investigation is underway following the tragic stabbing death of Rebecca “Becky” Marodi, a 49-year-old fire captain with the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection (Cal Fire).
Authorities suspect that Marodi may have known her attacker, raising concerns that this could be a case of domestic violence.
The fatal incident occurred Monday night in the Ramona home Marodi shared with her mother. At approximately 8:58 p.m., San Diego County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a distress call reporting an assault with a deadly weapon.
Upon arrival, they discovered Marodi with multiple stab wounds. Despite immediate life-saving efforts by Cal Fire paramedics, she was pronounced dead at the scene.
The motive behind the killing remains unclear, but investigators are exploring the possibility of a personal dispute. The sheriff’s department has not disclosed whether they have identified a suspect, but they are urging anyone with information to come forward.
In honor of Marodi’s service, Cal Fire personnel held a solemn procession from her home to the San Diego Medical Examiner’s Office on Tuesday morning. Her passing is deeply felt by her colleagues, who remember her as a dedicated and compassionate leader.
Marodi’s firefighting career spanned over three decades. She began as a volunteer firefighter in Moreno Valley in 1993 before steadily rising through the ranks. In 2022, she was promoted to captain, a testament to her hard work and commitment to public safety.
Neighbors, including Monika Evans, described Marodi as a warm and friendly presence in the community. “She was very sweet, kind, and had a great sense of humor,” Evans said, expressing sadness over the tragedy.
Authorities are urging anyone with information to contact the Homicide Unit at (858) 285-6330 or Crime Stoppers at (888) 580-8477 to provide anonymous tips.
