Who was Randy Snow?
Randy Snow, whose name is emblazoned on the Newfoundland radio equivalent of Mount Rushmore, returned in 2019 to co-host OZFM’s newly launched Morning Jam.

Snow has been a familiar and welcome name in Newfoundland and Labrador for almost thirty years. His devoted parents, who met and fell in love at the airport, raised him in Gander following his birth in St. John’s. And it occurred in a manner that is difficult to romanticize.

Snow has made the mornings her home since that day. His body is intended to emanate that rare, early-morning enthusiasm that few others have. As Snow quips, those weren’t exactly early days.

Yeah, there is no internet. Snow named Rock of the Rock, the OZFM headquarters, home for fifteen years after relocating in 1988. He became an appointment listener and became a regular on the OZFM Dawn Patrol.

About Randy Snow.
On June 15, 1977, CHOZ (93.9 FM) was established, shortly after Geoff Stirling sold his stake in the station that would subsequently become CJYQ. It was a full-time rock station previously known as The New Radio OZ, The Rock Of The Rock! It ultimately changed to a CHR/Classic Rock hybrid format called OZ FM, but retained the slogan “The Rock Of The Rock!” On August 1, 1984, the transfer of CHOZ to 94.7 FM was approved.

Randy Snow, Deborah Birmingham, and Larry Jay anchored the Dawn Patrol, contributing significantly to the station’s morning success. In the summer of 2003, Snow left the Dawn Patrol to serve as a morning show host at CKIX-FM. He departed the company on good terms, believing he had reached the zenith of his career with the brand.
