Nicole Pannell Columbus OH Death – Columbus police have identified the victim in a deadly shooting that left two people dead. Nicole Pannell, 41, of Columbus, Ohio, also known as Nikki Dortch, was found dead from gunshot wounds alongside a man, Kristian Hives, 31.

They were both found dead at a home on Pine Rise Court in the Northern Woods neighborhood, near Cooper Road around 11:15 p.m. Monday.

According to the Columbus Police Department, officers were dispatched to the 5900 block of Pine Rise Court around 11:14 p.m. following a report of gunshots.

Upon arrival, police discovered Pannell and Hives with gunshot wounds. Pannell was found deceased in the basement of the home, while Hives was found unresponsive in the backyard. Emergency Medical Services pronounced both individuals dead at the scene shortly after 11:30 p.m.

Initial findings suggest that the incident may have resulted from a domestic dispute. Pannell’s teenage son reportedly heard arguing and gunshots before calling 911. In a call to emergency services, the son described hearing his mother scream and said the argument seemed unexpected, noting that he was unaware of any previous issues between his mother and Hives. In a panic, he fled the house and sought help from a neighbor.

Investigators believe that Hives, who was Pannell’s boyfriend, shot Pannell before turning the gun on himself. Hives was found with a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head. The case is currently being treated as a murder-suicide pending further investigation.

The tragic news has prompted an outpouring of grief from family and friends. Pannell, who was also known by her maiden name Nikki Dortch, is being remembered fondly by those who knew her. Relatives have taken to social media to express their sorrow and shock over the loss.
