Morgan Kitchen Alberta Firefighter Death: The 24-year-old firefighter who died fighting the Jasper wildfire has been identified as Morgan Kitchen.
He was a member of the Alberta Wildfire crew and was killed by a falling tree while fighting the fire northeast of Jasper on Saturday, August 3.
Kitchen was a Calgary resident and worked out of the Rocky Mountain House firebase. According to Parks Canada, his crew administered immediate first assistance and activated the medical response plan for the incident.
The 24-year-old was transported by stretcher to a helipad and taken out by STARS air ambulance, but he was pronounced dead shortly after. According to a tribute message uploaded online, Kitchen had a bright and vibrant personality. He was a witty, outspoken man. His loved ones described him as completely honest, and full of adventure and delight.
According to the tribute, Kitchen got along with his fellow firemen and was content doing what he liked in such a wild and free environment. He leaves behind devastated parents and six siblings, as well as a large extended family and a network of friends.

A funeral is planned for Saturday, Aug. 17 in Calgary.

Morgan came us to as a young man with dreams of building a career in emergency response. He pursued that relentlessly, serving in the military and leaving our department to join the Royal Marines. Truly Morgan lived a life of service and we are better for him having been here. Our thoughts go out to his friends and family.
