Michael Valentine Cincinnati OH Death – Member of University of Cincinnati Alumni Association Michael Valentine has sadly passed away.
He died surrounded by his beloved family who will forever miss him. He was confirmed dead through a Facebook publication made on Wednesday 18th September 2024. The cause of his death has not been made public.
Michael Valentine’s career as an innovator and entrepreneur has spanned more than four decades, marked by his creation of an industry-changing radar detector and the establishment of two successful companies: Cincinnati Microwave and his current venture, Valentine Research. Valentine’s journey is a testament to the power of curiosity, education, and a commitment to giving back.
Born and raised in Vandalia, Ohio, Valentine had diverse interests as a high school student, including music and basketball. However, it was his early fascination with electronics, sparked by his amateur radio license, that set him on the path to a career in engineering.
This passion led him to pursue a degree in electrical engineering at the University of Cincinnati, where he and his wife, Peg, would later become steadfast supporters of the institution.
Valentine’s father, a mechanical engineer, emphasized the value of hands-on education, encouraging his son to take advantage of UC’s cooperative education program. This program not only helped Valentine finance his education but also provided him with invaluable industry experience, paving the way for his future endeavors.
After graduating, Valentine secured a position at a company where he had previously co-oped. As he sold electrical components, he noticed a growing interest in radar detectors among his clients. Seizing the opportunity, he reached out to a former co-op colleague, and together they developed a technologically advanced radar detector, launching Cincinnati Microwave in 1976.
Valentine recalls the pivotal moment when he and Peg decided to take on the substantial financial risk of starting their own company. Their leap of faith paid off, as the radar detector quickly established itself as a leading product in the industry, setting new standards for performance and reliability.
Following the success of Cincinnati Microwave, Valentine continued to innovate in the field of electronics, establishing Valentine Research. This company has focused on selling directly to consumers, reinforcing Valentine’s commitment to providing high-quality products that meet user needs. His dedication to innovation remains a driving force in his work, ensuring that Valentine Research stays at the forefront of technology.
