McKenna Counterman Bartlesville, OK Death: The collegiate sorority of Kappa Kappa Gamma, is mourning the tragic death of a member and student of Oklahoma State University who passed away unexpectedly.

McKenna Counterman was a resident of Bartlesville, Oklahoma. McKenna Grace Counterman of Bartlesville, Oklahoma, was embraced with open arms by our Heavenly Father on September 10, 2024, when she turned 20.

McKenna was born on July 28, 2004, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, to David and Julie Counterman. She spent 15 days in the NICU before returning home to Bartlesville.

McKenna graduated from Bartlesville High School in 2022, having previously attended Central Middle School and Kane Elementary in Bartlesville. She excelled at maths and enjoyed performing in the chorus from sixth to twelfth grade.

She was a junior at Oklahoma State University in Stillwater, Oklahoma, pursuing a degree in elementary education. McKenna has had a passion for dance since the age of three when she performed with the Bartlesville Civic Ballet and Inspirations Dance Studio.

She performed in several performances, most notably The Nutcracker, where she began as a newborn angel and a mouse before progressing to her dream role of Clara. She has performed in other ballets such as Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty, Dracula, and Coppelia. McKenna’s “happy place” was the ballet stage, and when her feet struck the stage, she lit up the room.

SEP 23. 4:00 PM – 6:00 PM (CT). Bartlesville Community Center on 300 E. Adams Blvd, Bartlesville, OK 74003. McKenna’s other interests included being on the water, particularly at a lake or pool. She had grown to enjoy waterskiing and tubing, and she could handle fishing expeditions with her father. She also enjoyed jigsaw puzzles and could finish a 1000-piece puzzle in a matter of days. McKenna was rarely seen without a Dr Pepper. Bella, Sniffles, Tika, and Hazel were among her most cherished pets. McKenna’s spirituality was also an important aspect of her life, as she spent a lot of time praying and studying scripture.

McKenna’s parents, David and Julie Counterman of Bartlesville, her brother Jacob Hendrickson and his wife Cayla of Moore, OK; her sister Tara Hendrickson and her fiance Corban Lawrence of Moore, OK; her niece Lakely Ann Lawrence of Moore, OK, to whom she was a very proud Aunt “Nenna”; her maternal grandmother Doris Keeler of Ochelata, OK; her paternal grandmother Minh Counterman of Bartlesville, OK; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins McKenna was preceded in death by her maternal grandfather, Donald Keeler of Ochelata, Oklahoma, and her paternal grandfather, Phil Counterman of Bartlesville, Oklahoma.
