Matthew Mullen Sacramento CA Death – Matthew Mullen, a resident of Sacramento California, and an assistant cook at Camp Mather passed away on August 8, 2024.

On his day off, he was trekking in Yosemite National Park with colleagues when he tragically passed away. At Camp Mather, a popular family camp next to Hetch Hetchy Reservoir where hundreds of San Francisco families spend summers in the expansive park, Matt was employed as an assistant cook.

Who was Matthew Mullen?
The day Matthew James Mullen was born was November 25, 2003. Annemarie, the oldest child, and Rose, the middle child, made up Matthew’s family stool. Matt was much adored, opinionated, sensitive, industrious, and full of life.

He graduated from Jesuit High School in 2022 and attended Presentation Catholic School. He was an excellent athlete, as seen by his passion for basketball, baseball, and soccer. He became passionate about climbing more lately, spending endless hours at the nearby climber’s gym, Pipeworks.

Matt’s close-knit group of friends adored him for his quick wit and adventurous personality. Matt was a two-year veteran of the Camp Mather culinary staff, serving San Francisco families, and worked at Skip’s culinary in Carmichael.

Working with his two older sisters, his cousin Brendan, and his Uncle Toby Wiley, the Camp Director and a significant influence in Matt’s Mather career, he treasured his time at Camp Mather.

Matthew Mullen obituary and funeral arrangements
On Friday, August 23, 2024, at 11 a.m., there will be a life celebration and Mass of Christian burial at St. Ignatius Church, 3235 Arden Way, Sacramento. A reception will be held right after. Donations to the Friends of Camp Mather or the Kino Border Initiative would be greatly appreciated by individuals who would like to make a memorial gift.
