Officer Bowen, a dedicated member of the Vacaville Police Department, was struck by a vehicle while conducting a routine traffic stop.

How did the accident happen?
The incident occurred at the intersection of Leisure Town Road and Orange Drive Thursday morning. Officer Bowen, a seasoned motorcycle officer, had pulled over a vehicle when he was unexpectedly hit from behind by a car driven by Serena C.J. Rodriguez, 24, of Auburn.
According to the California Highway Patrol’s Golden Gate division, Rodriguez is alleged to have been under the influence of drugs at the time of the collision.
Officer Bowen was rushed to Kaiser Vacaville Medical Center, where despite the best efforts of medical personnel, he succumbed to his injuries. The news of his passing has sent shockwaves through the law enforcement community and the city he served with unwavering dedication.
