Luis Martinez of Noblesville Shot and K!lled on Interstate 65 in Indianapolis Sunday Afternoon
Police are investigating after one person was shot and killed Sunday afternoon on Interstate 65.
Officers with the Indiana State Police were dispatched to the 113.4 mile marker on I-65 at approximately 1:47 p.m. on a report of a person shot.
One person was pronounced dead on the scene.
The left lane and ramp to West Street were closed.
In a press release sent Sunday evening, Indiana State Police reported that its troopers were dispatched to the scene on a report of a man slumped over the steering wheel of a stopped vehicle. ISP indicated that the first trooper who arrived at the scene found an unresponsive man in the driver’s seat of a grey Nissan van.
The man was pronounced dead a short time later. State police confirmed the man had injuries consistent with gunshot wounds.
The deceased individual has been identified as 52-year-old Luis Martinez of Noblesville. ISP reported that it found what appeared to be bullet holes in the passenger side of the Nissan van.

Detectives believe those that were driving in the area at approximately 1:45 p.m. may have seen the incident unfold. Those with vehicles equipped with cameras that were driving in the area at the time of the shooting are also urged to contact state police.
