Allison McCune Davis: I’m so sad to let you know that our wonderful sister, Louisa McCune, went to heaven yesterday after a long battle with cancer.
Oklahoma Alliance for Animals: Our hearts are totally shattered this evening as we learned Louisa McCune — one of Oklahoma’s greatest animal advocates — has passed away.
There truly aren’t words capable of accurately describing Louisa. Kind, elegant, witty, intelligent, fierce, and compassionate barely begin to detail the force of life Louisa was. Louisa has been an advocate of the arts and animal welfare in Oklahoma, leading the Kirkpatrick Foundation, for many years
She has been a tireless advocate against cockfighting and for humane living conditions for farm industry pigs. She has ensured animal organizations, like OAA, have funding to help chained dogs and abandoned animals.
Louisa gave everything until her last days to make the world a better – more humane and kind – place for animals and people. She will never be forgotten. Her shining light and work will live on in all those she touched, including all of us at OAA. Rest easy, dear friend. We will keep your legacy alive.
Tulsa SPCA: The Tulsa SPCA wants to express our extreme sadness upon learning of the untimely passing of Louisa McCune. In a world where animals and their rights are often overlooked and their treatment frequently leaves much to be desired, Louisa was a vocal advocate for change. She not only spoke on their behalf, but in her most recent role with Kirkpatrick Foundation, she ensured funding availability to make change possible. The void Louisa’s loss leaves, particularly in the Oklahoma animal welfare community, cannot be overstated. The Tulsa SPCA offers our sincere condolences to Louisa’s family, friends, and colleagues – we loved her passion for animals and appreciated her dedication to our cause – she will be sorely missed.
