According to authorities, since Wednesday night during the extended Fourth of July holiday weekend, at least 103 individuals have been shot in Chicago, with 19 of them dying as a result of gun violence.

The neighborhood of West Chesterfield was the scene of the most recent shooting. At around 11:51 p.m., two individuals were shot in the 700-block of East 89th Place, one of them died. Shortly before that, a single person was shot and died in the South Austin neighborhood’s 200-block of North Central Avenue.

Just after five in the morning, three males were shot on a sidewalk in front of the adult hospital’s emergency room, prompting the University of Chicago to issue a security alert on Sunday morning.

According to UCPD, witnesses claimed that a dark-colored SUV that was fleeing southbound on Cottage Grove away from the Medical Center was the source of the gunshots. It’s unclear if any of the victims have any kind of connection to the university.

In a gunfight on Saturday night in South Shore, a guy lost his life. Around 8:50 p.m., the 25-year-old was walking on railroad tracks close to the 1700 block of East 71st Street when two individuals approached him and opened fire on him, according to Chicago police. According to authorities, the man was rushed to University of Chicago Medical Center after suffering multiple gunshot wounds to his body. There, he passed away. There were no recorded arrests. Police claimed that a woman was hurt and a man was killed in a drive-by shooting on the South Side a few hours later.
