Officials confirmed the discovery of “injuries consistent with gunshot wounds” on all four individuals pronounced dead following a house fire in Madison, Ind., Tuesday evening.

Indiana State Police responded to a distress call at a residence on East Telegraph Hill Road in Jefferson County, situated approximately ninety minutes southwest of Cincinnati, shortly after 4 p.m. Tuesday.

Upon entering the premises, first responders encountered the bodies of four individuals. Despite earnest efforts to rescue them, 35-year-old Naomi Briner; Adelia Briner, aged 12; Leland Briner, aged 8; and Iyla Briner, aged 6, were declared deceased at the scene. Naomi Briner is believed to be the mother of the three other victims.

Firefighters managed to extinguish the blaze, prompting the arrival of investigators at the scene, as confirmed by ISP.

Subsequent investigation by the Indiana State Police revealed that “all four of the deceased had injuries consistent with gunshot wounds” when they were discovered within the residence.

While authorities have not disclosed information regarding the individual responsible for the victims’ gunshot injuries, they have reassured the public, stating that “investigators do not believe that there is a threat to the public.”

The ongoing investigation is being conducted by the Indiana State Police in collaboration with multiple other agencies.
