Kyree Dowd Meriden CT Death – Kyree Dowd of Meriden, Connecticut have sadly passed away. He died after drowning at Bantam Lake on Saturday 8th June 2024 leaving those who knew him devastated.
He was confirmed dead through a post that reads “Yesterday we spent the afternoon hoping and praying for recovery of first grandson Kyree’ Dowd. He lost his life after saving his girlfriend’s son from drowning.”
How did the incident happen?
A man was pulled from Bantam Lake at the Point Folly Campground early Saturday afternoon, according to a release from the Bantam Fire Company. First responders were dispatched to the scene on North Shore Road in Bantam at approximately 12:31 p.m.
The fire company reported that the initial group of safety personnel arrived at 12:40 p.m. and confirmed the man was actively drowning. Following protocol, all EMS and Dive Team assets gathered at the command post at the campground, while boat assets reported to Litchfield Town Beach.
The first diver entered the water at 12:48 p.m. to commence the search and rescue operation. Meanwhile, additional resources and first responders continued to arrive, with backup teams assuming standby roles. By 1:03 p.m., the diver located the victim, prompting immediate resuscitative efforts. The man was then transported to Charlotte Hungerford Hospital with a medic. Another individual present at the scene was also transported for evaluation.
While a Life Star helicopter was called to stand by, it was ultimately unavailable for the incident. Emergency services from neighboring towns Goshen and Morris provided assistance, and the Connecticut State Police from Troop L in Litchfield were on scene to investigate. At the time of the release, the conditions of both patients remained unknown. The Bantam Fire Company commended the coordinated efforts of all emergency services involved, emphasizing the importance of rapid response and teamwork in such critical situations.
