Kroger Shooting: 1 person shot during officer-involved shooting at Kroger in Colerain Township

Kroger Shooting – Two suspects were taken to the hospital after shots were fired at the Kroger location in Colerain Township Wednesday afternoon. Police said. The police response came around 4 p.m. at the Kroger on Springdale Road, near Colerain Avenue for a report of shots fired at the store.

What Happened in Kroger Today?
Colerain Township spokesperson Jim Love said crews responded at the scene in Kroger Marketplace at 3636 Springdale Road. One officer was involved in the shooting but not injured. Love originally reported that officers pursued and detained one suspect.

He later said two suspects were taken to UC Medical Center. Love said, Latashia Sawyer was inside the store with her daughter, waiting in line at the pharmacy. She told us they heard shots fired before an employee told them to “run for your life.”

“It’s terrifying”
Latashia Sawyer said: “People just started scattering and going about everywhere, Then we heard more gunshots and i counted at least 20 shots… I’m scared. I’m frantic. I don’t know whether to run or to duck and hide.”

Kroger employee Micah Lewis said she saw a man pointing a gun before she started to run. She said heard over her walkie-talkie that a “man (was) down” and she immediately tried to run out of the building and contact her family. People inside nearby businesses said they heard the shots fired and locked down their buildings.

Suspect arrested
It was later reported that a suspect was detained and taken into custody after a foot chase inside the Springdale Road store. Police said the shooting involved officers and that there was a pursuit involved. Police are asking people to avoid the area as they investigate. The Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation (BCI) Crime Scene Unit has responded. This is a developing story.
