Krissi Harris Munn Obituary, Death:- Krissi Harris Munn, a teacher at Newton County Elementary for many years has passed away. She was announced dead on Sunday night, the 7th of April 2024.
Krissi Harris Munn, a resident of Decatur, Mississippi died in her sleep from natural causes. She was 40 years old at the time of her passing.
The school district released this statement earlier this evening surrounding her death: “It is with deep sadness we offer our condolences to the family and friends of our colleague, Krissi Harris Munn. Know everyone throughout our district is thinking of you as you navigate the days ahead.”
Who was Krissi Harris Munn?
She was born on Saturday, December 24, 1983, in Meridian, Mississippi. She graduated from Newton County High in 2002. The honor student and softball star won many trophies for her right-field play. Her senior year MAC All-Star selection was a major achievement.
Playing for East Central Community College. While playing for the Lady Warriors in 2004, she was named All-State and Academic All-American Scholar. Krissi earned a Bachelor of Elementary Education and a Master of Educational Administration from Mississippi State University in 2007 and 2009, respectively.
Her neighborhood loved her, and she was a loving mother of three and married to Daniel for 16 years. She enjoyed athletics, thrifting, and shirtmaking and brought enthusiasm and creativity to everything she did. Her green thumb and garden brought her peace. Canning and preserving her produce was her love. She enjoyed cheering on her children at the ballpark in recent days, sharing her competitive energy with them.
Krissi taught first, second, and third grade at Newton County Elementary School for 18 years. Krissi was able to teach during her 2-year Melanoma experience thanks to her colleagues’ affection and support. Her church attendance and Fishers of Men Sunday School Class participation showed her persistent loyalty.

Services for Mrs. Krissi Harris Munn will be held at 10:00 am, Wednesday, April 10, 2024, at Clarke-Venable Baptist Church. Her final resting place will be at Decatur City Cemetery beside her loving mother. Rev. Mark Vincent will officiate. Visitation will be held from 5:00-8:00 pm, Tuesday, April 9, 2024, at Newton County Funeral Home- North.
