Keaton McDermott Barbour County WV Accident – The tragic accident, which occurred in Randolph County, claimed the life of Keaton “Beef” McDermott, a recent Philip Barbour High School graduate and standout athlete.
He passed away on Sunday 23rd June 2024. He was well-known and beloved in his community, both for his athletic prowess and his vibrant personality. A four-year varsity football player for the Philip Barbour Colts, McDermott also excelled in track and field.
His athletic achievements included a recent competition in the state track meet, following his victories in the regional championships for shot-put and discus.
In addition, McDermott had showcased his football skills in two prominent All-Star Games earlier this month, including the prestigious North-South All-Star Game in South Charleston. Tragically, McDermott’s life was cut short in the multi-vehicle crash, which is still under investigation by the Randolph County Sheriff’s Department.
Also involved in the accident was McDermott’s girlfriend, who sustained severe injuries. She was initially transported to Davis Memorial Hospital in Elkins and subsequently flown to Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown for further treatment.
Her current condition remains a concern for her family and the community. Keaton McDermott had recently committed to West Virginia Wesleyan College, where he was set to continue his track and field career this fall.
His untimely death has left a profound void in the hearts of those who knew him. Friends, family, and community members are struggling to come to terms with the loss of such a promising young individual, whose future was filled with potential. He will be deeply missed by all that knew him.
