Josh Maravich Death: Pete Maravich’s son and a former LSU basketball player has died

Josh Maravich Death – Former Louisiana State University basketball player and Pete Maravich’s son Josh Maravich has saldy passed away. He died on Friday 7th June 2024 leaving family and friends in shock.

He was announced dead on Saturday by the LSU athletic department through a post that reads “Former LSU men’s basketball player Josh Maravich passed away on Friday at the family home in Covington at the age of 42.” The cause of his death was not mentioned.

Who was Pete Maravich?
Pistol Pete, a.k.a. Peter Press Maravich, was a Serbian-born American professional basketball player. His father, Press Maravich, was the head coach of Louisiana State University’s Tigers basketball team, where he excelled as a college player.

At an average of 44.2 points per game and 3,667 points scored, Maravich is the all-time top men’s NCAA Division I scorer. His achievements were all made prior to the three-point line and shot clock being implemented, even though he was not allowed to play varsity basketball as a freshman due to NCAA regulations at the time.

Josh Maravich College Basketball Career
Pistol Pete Maravich, the renowned LSU basketball player and NBA great, had two sons, including Josh. He was born on March 25, 1982, in Metairie. He played for head coach John Brady’s LSU men’s basketball team for four seasons, from 2001 to 2005.

Maravich knew he had always wanted to spend time at LSU. He played high school basketball at St. Paul’s in Covington before attending LSU. During his three years there, he scored over 1,000 points, and in his senior year, he was awarded MVP of the District. During his final year, Josh averaged 18 points, 4 rebounds, 4 assists, and 3 steals per game.
