Josephine McNary MD Suicide – Californians are mourning the demise of a beloved resident and native who was found dead unexpectedly.
The 40-year-old medical and psychiatrist passed away this weekend after battling mental health anxieties and depression.
Who Was Josephine McNary?
Josephine McNary, MD was the founder of the world-renowned CalPsychiatry (a CalPsychiatry is a group of informed, empathetic, and team-oriented psychiatrists.
We specialize in treating mood disorders (depression, bipolar disorder), anxiety disorders (including OCD), ADHD, addiction, and women’s mental health issues in Santa Monica, Downtown LA, Marina del Rey, Hermosa Beach, and Santa Barbara).
Dr. McNary received her BA and MA from Stanford University, and her MD from Tulane University. She then finished her psychiatry residency at UCLA Neuropsychiatric Institute, where she received training in women’s mental health, mood and anxiety disorders, cognitive behavioral therapy, and couples and family therapy.
Dr. McNary was passionate about improving her medical practice and expertise, and she has undergone specialty fellowship training in both psycho-oncology and mood disorders.
From 2011 to 2015, she worked as a staff psychiatrist at the UCLA Simms-Mann Center for Integrative Oncology and completed a fellowship at the UCLA Mood Disorders Clinic, which specializes in treatment-resistant mood disorders.
Dr. McNary was the host of MindStories, a podcast that explores the various mental health treatment choices available. Dr. McNary worked directly with her patients across numerous CalPsychiatry locations and is currently on staff at UCLA’s Department of Psychiatry, where she provides both inpatient and consultative services.
