Johnny Konings Accident: New Zealander husband paralysed in Australia surfing accident

Johnny Konings Accident – A 31-year-old New Zealander who was left paralyzed following a surfing accident in Australia is committed to overcoming the odds and walking again.

Johnny Konings suffered life-altering injuries, including a broken spine and ribs, leading to paralysis from the waist down, as well as a collapsed lung when he wiped out at Duranbah on the Tweed Heads last Tuesday.

The accident occurred at a time when Konings had been living in Gold Coast with his fiancée Charlotte Gordon. The couple was planning their wedding before everything changed abruptly due to the tragic incident.

Konings described his injury as “his worst nightmare.” His fiancée expressed gratitude for surfers and lifeguards who rescued him from the water. Despite acknowledging that Konings’ prognosis wasn’t optimistic, she remains “incredibly positive” about their future.

Gordon emphasized their determination to face this adversity head-on and highlighted Konings’ resilience and intact sense of humor while being hospitalized. She chronicled their journey online and shared updates on social media, focusing on positivity amidst challenging times.

Konings himself is resolute about regaining mobility despite his current condition. He vowed that he will walk out of the hospital through an Instagram post.

The couple’s initial plan was to return home for an engagement celebration with family; however, they decided to mark the occasion at Royal Brisbane after being there due to Koning’s treatment instead.

In her latest update online, Gordon posted a heartwarming video of her partner alongside them walking along the beach while emphasizing hope for better days ahead.
