Jay was born on April 7, 1966, in Charlotte, North Carolina, parents Georgia Messer Henley Frost and James Alexander Henley, both of whom have now passed away. Not only did Jay’s father pass away before him, but his grandparents, Vera Messer, Ruby and Dainer Frost, and his aunt, Helen Anderson, also passed away before him.
Jay was a man who delighted in having fun and was proud of himself. The Dallas Cowboys, the Alabama Crimson Tide, and the University of North Carolina Tar Heels continued to be Jay’s favorite sports teams throughout his entire life.
Golf, baseball, basketball, and football were some of the sports that he frequently enjoyed playing with his sons. In Charlotte, North Carolina, Jay received his diploma from West Charlotte High School.
During his younger years, he worked for Levy Restaurants, which was primarily contracted out to Charlotte Motor Speedway/NASCAR. In his later years, he worked for Blue Dot Readi-Mix. In addition to being a man of faith, Jay was a member of the Gloryland Baptist Church.
