Jaiden Andrews Car Accident: Family and friends are mourning the tragic demise of a young woman who was killed in a fiery vehicle crash in Plymouth, MASS this weekend.
Jaiden Andrews was a graduate of the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth. She was an athletic student and graduate of Plymouth South High School – Class of 2017.
Jaiden Andrews was named the Little East Conference (LEC) Women’s Track Rookie of the Year while competing in her first season at the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth.
Andrews made an immediate impact for the Corsairs, quickly becoming the best 100-meter hurdler in the conference, and was among the top of the LEC in both the 100 and 200-meter dash.
Andrews’ standout performance of the year occurred on April 16th at the Jerry Gravel Invitational at Westfield State. She beat current Head Field Hockey Coach Linee Mello-Frost’s ’11 100-meter hurdle program record in 14.77 seconds.
Andrews proceeded to dominate the event, clocking 14.95 for an Individual Championship in the LEC meet, 15.07 at the Tufts Sunshine Classic, 15.20 at Coast Guard, and 15.48 at the Corsair Classic.
Andrews competed in the 200-meter dash at every competition this season. Her best performance in the event at Coast Guard, 26.10, ranks eighth in program history. She also ran times of 26.12 at Westfield State, 26.43 at the conference championships, and 26.49 at the Corsair Classic.
Andrews was also a top performer in the conference’s 100-meter dash. Her quickest time was in the preliminary round at Tufts (12.70), which ranks sixth all-time. She went around and won the finals of that event with a 12.93.
She also ran times of 12.73 at LECs and 12.85 in the Corsair Classic. Andrews is seeded sixth in the 100-meter hurdles and 22nd in the 200-meter sprint at the upcoming Division III New England Championships, which will be held at Williams College on Friday and Saturday.
