Jacob Goodwin Obituary Barstow, CA, University of California alumnus died on April 27

Jacob Goodwin Obituary – Jacob Goodwin, aged 39, passed away April 27th, 2024, at St. Mary Medical Center, in Apple Valley, California. He was born on October 26th, 1984, in Barstow, California to Danny Goodwin and Constance Frederick.

Jacob was the salutatorian of his 2002 graduating class at Granite Hills High School, a Regents Scholar at the University of California, Davis, where he earned a Bachelor’s of Science in Electrical Engineering, and went on to receive a Master’s of Science in Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of California, Los Angeles.

He put his degrees to work professionally as both an electrical engineer and software developer.

Jacob was an active member in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He often played the organ for church services and fulfilled a number of teaching and leadership roles.

He served a two year mission to Argentina where he taught many and honed his Spanish language skills, which he would continue to use throughout his later travels.

Jacob enjoyed playing and watching sports, and was an avid hiker, cyclist, traveler, and enjoyer of life. Always up for an adventure, Jacob shared many wonderful experiences with friends and family. A dedicated and devoted family member, friend, and disciple, Jacob will be deeply missed by all those who were blessed to know him.

Jacob was preceded in death by his father, Danny Goodwin, and brother, Micah Goodwin. He is survived by his mother, Constance, brothers, Aaron and Abel (Hamp) Goodwin, sister, Deborah Simonds, nephews, Henry and Leo Simonds, and niece, Dorothea (Luna) Simonds.
