Irene Say MD Obituary: San Jose, CA – Dr. Irene Say M.D. has passed away suddenly. She was confirmed dead on Thursday, March 7, 2024. Irene died, leaving many people’s hearts broken once they learned of her unexpected passing.
Those individuals who had the privilege of getting to know her throughout the course of her life will never forget her and will always miss her.
Irene Say, a neurosurgeon, provided medical attention to patients who suffered from a variety of spine-related conditions, including those that were caused by trauma, cancer, and degenerative spine disorders.
She was an expert in minimally invasive and complex spine surgery, with a particular emphasis on procedures that preserve the patient’s ability to move, neuronavigation (computer-assisted neurosurgery), and robotic surgery (computer-assisted technologies that enhance precision and control).
Say’s research centered on the development of procedures for minimally invasive neurosurgery, as well as best practices and standards for improving neurosurgical treatment. Her investigation on spinal cord emergencies was made possible by the Carl Akins Risk Management Grant, which she was awarded.
Education
Say attended graduate school at the University of California, San Diego School of Medicine, where she received her medical degree. The Rutgers New Jersey Medical School was the institution where she finished her residency in neurosurgery.
In addition to completing a fellowship in spinal neurosurgery at the University of California, Los Angeles, she also finished a fellowship in orthopedic spine surgery at the University of California, Irvine.
Say had been working at the Regional Medical Center of San Jose as the director of spine neurosurgery before to her passing. She has been honored by the Patient and Family Advisory Councils of the UMass Health System for the exceptional quality of care that she provides to her patients.
There are several organizations that she is a member of, including the North American Spine Society, the Cervical Spine Research Society, the American Association of Neurological Surgeons, and the Congress of Neurological Surgeons.
