I-5 Salem Accident Today – A crash has closed the southbound lanes of I-5 just south of Salem late Saturday afternoon, according to officials.
The Oregon Department of Transportation (ODOT) reports that the accident occurred around 2:30 p.m. near milepost 251, just south of the Kuebler Boulevard interchange.
By approximately 3:45 p.m., one lane had reopened. However, emergency crews may need to close this lane again as the situation develops.

One woman is dead following a crash on I-135 just south of Newton, according to the Kansas Highway Patrol. KHP said the crash happened just after 1:40 p.m. near the southeast 36th Street exit.
A KHP trooper said a Newton woman in her 30s was driving southbound when she crossed the median and swiped a semi-truck, causing her to be ejected. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
KHP is investigating if she was wearing a seat belt. The semi-truck driver was not injured. KHP said they aim to reopen the highway around 7 p.m. The Harvey County Sheriff’s Office is responding to a fatal crash on the northbound lanes of Interstate 135 near the 36th Street exit, just south of Newton.
The Harvey County Sheriff’s Office said northbound I-135 will be closed for the next one to two hours.
