Houston Tragedy – A family in Northeast Houston is mourning the loss of two children after a tragic incident on Wednesday night.
According to police, a 17-year-old was in an apartment on Arto St. near Hardy St. with three younger relatives, the youngest being 10.
While the children’s parents were in the living room, unaware that the 17-year-old had a gun, the teenager pulled out the weapon to show his siblings. One of the younger children accidentally pulled the trigger, fatally shooting an 11-year-old boy.
Overcome with grief, the 17-year-old ran into a nearby wooded area with the gun. Despite efforts by family members to calm him down, the teen shot himself and later died at a local hospital.
“It’s a very tragic scene tonight for this family,” said Assistant Chief Keith Seafous. “Our condolences go out to the family.” The family is cooperating with the investigation, and police are working to determine whether the gun was already in the home or if the teen acquired it elsewhere.
In the wake of this tragic incident, we extend our deepest condolences to the families affected by this heart-wrenching loss. As they grapple with the indescribable pain of bidding farewell to their loved ones, we share in their sorrow and stand in solidarity during this time of profound grief.
