Harry Mogck Death – Harry “Buzz” Mogck, a real lifesaving legend, passed away this morning after a brief illness and hospital stay. We report his departure with deep grief.
Having spent more than 50 years defending and assisting beachgoers, Chief Mogck has had an enormous impact on the Cape May Beach Patrol and the larger lifesaving community.
Buzz Mogck’s career as a lifeguard and Chief of Cape May Beach Patrol is marked by unparalleled commitment and leadership. His expertise and dedication to safety on the shores have saved countless lives and inspired generations of lifeguards who followed in his footsteps.
Beyond his direct contributions on the beach, Buzz was a stalwart member of the United States Lifesaving Association (USLA). For over three decades, he served on the Board of Directors and as a national advisor, shaping policies and training programs that enhanced lifeguard effectiveness and safety standards nationwide.
Buzz’s dedication to the USLA was further highlighted by his hosting of the USLA Lifeguard Nationals a record six times and his recognition as a USLA Life Member.
Buzz Mogck’s legacy extends far beyond the beaches of Cape May. His influence, mentorship, and unwavering dedication to lifesaving will be remembered and cherished by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
