Despite the tremendous efforts by his medical team and the unwavering support of his family, Jay’s condition was critical, and he succumbed to the injuries sustained in the accident.
Jay was a beloved son, brother, teammate, and friend whose spirit touched the lives of everyone who knew him. His family is heartbroken by this loss and is now faced with the overwhelming task of not only mourning their son but also navigating the financial burdens that come with such a tragic event.
About the accident
One of the three people hospitalized after a collision in Upper Providence over the weekend has reportedly died.
On Saturday, January 4 at 9:58 p.m., a car crashed on Hopwood Road between Chinaberry Lane and Harvest Lane. According to authorities, a silver 2011 Nissan Murano with two passengers and a driver veered off the road and struck a tree.
The front passenger was taken to Paoli Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, the back passenger was transferred to Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia in serious condition, and the driver was taken to Penn Presbyterian Medical Center in critical condition.
After the car crashed, two of the victims were stuck inside and had to be retrieved by emergency personnel. Jay Crater was identified as the victim who passed away from their wounds. Everyone who knew Jay was impacted by his energy; he was a cherished brother, friend, teammate, and son.
For hours, Hopwood Road was closed as the accident was investigated and cleared. Around three in the morning on Sunday, it reopened.
