Glendale Strip Mall Shooting – A man was fatally shot outside a Glendale strip mall on Thursday morning, and the gunman remains at large.
Police responded to the scene around 8:45 a.m. after reports of a man down in a parking lot near Pacific and Arden Avenue.
Arriving officers found the victim, a male in his 50s, lying on the ground with a gunshot wound. Witnesses say the suspect, a man on a motorcycle, had been waiting for the victim outside the strip mall. As soon as the victim arrived for a morning business meeting, the gunman opened fire and fled the scene.
The victim, identified by loved ones as a local music promoter and father of two young children, was well-known in the community. He was reportedly at the strip mall for an early morning meeting when the shooter, believed to have been targeting him, attacked.
One witness, who wished to remain anonymous, described the chilling scene. “I heard this man came to a meeting here, and another man on a motorcycle came and shot the victim in the head. He died instantly.” The witness said the gunman quickly fled after the shooting.
The victim’s body was found near the Paris Baguette pastry shop, lying between two vehicles, with his white Dodge pickup truck’s door still ajar. It’s unclear how many shots were fired, but the impact was fatal.
Detectives from the Glendale Police Department quickly arrived on the scene to investigate, reviewing surveillance footage from nearby businesses and gathering witness statements. As of now, the shooter’s identity remains unknown, and the motive for the attack is still under investigation.
Sgt. Cage Abramyan, a spokesperson for Glendale Police, noted that while they are actively following leads, details about the suspect cannot yet be disclosed.
The parking lot of the strip mall, located about a mile from the Americana at Brand and Glendale Galleria, was cordoned off as homicide detectives continued their investigation. Police are urging anyone with information about the incident to come forward.
