Frank Vickers Boardman Ohio Death – Federal investigators are probing an Ohio-based company after one of its employees died while on a worksite in Beaver County, Pennsylvania.
The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) launched the investigation following the June 20 death of a man in New Brighton. The Beaver County Coroner’s Office identified the deceased as 48-year-old Frank Vickers from Boardman, Ohio.
Vickers was employed by Rudzick Excavating, a company based in Struthers, Ohio. This tragic incident is not the first time Rudzick Excavating has come under scrutiny for workplace safety issues.
OSHA has cited the company several times in the past for safety violations. Notably, in August 2021, the company received a “serious” citation for failing to implement safety measures against cave-ins while operating in Monaca, another locality in Beaver County.
The investigation into Vickers’ death is part of OSHA’s broader mandate to ensure safe and healthful working conditions for workers by setting and enforcing standards and by providing training, outreach, education, and assistance.
According to OSHA’s guidelines, the agency has six months from the date of the incident to issue any citations if violations of workplace safety regulations are found. This period allows for a thorough investigation, including site inspections, interviews with witnesses, and a review of company records and practices.
In the interim, Rudzick Excavating will likely undergo significant scrutiny. Previous citations and the current investigation might influence the level of fines or sanctions the company could face if found in violation of safety regulations again.
OSHA’s investigation will aim to determine whether Vickers’ death was due to a lapse in adhering to established safety protocols and whether it could have been prevented with proper measures.
