Eric Estes Oberlin College Death: Brown University vice president for Campus Life allegedly dies

Eric Estes Oberlin College Death – Eric Estes, the vice president for Campus Life in Brown University has died.

He was announced dead today, Tuesday, the 4th of June 2024. His death was claimed to be unexpected, however, the circumstances of his death are unknown. There have been comments on social media, but no one knows what caused his death.

Who was Eric Estes?
Eric Estes joined Brown University as the Vice President for Campus Life in July 2016. He oversees a division with 20 departments that support students, faculty, and staff, focusing on inclusive community building, developmental advising, health and wellbeing, equity, inclusion, and operational excellence. He also holds a faculty appointment in American Studies.

Career
Before Brown, Estes spent 12 years at Oberlin College and Conservatory, including five years as Vice President and Dean of Students. He was an associate dean in both the College of Arts and Sciences and Student Life, and the longest-serving director of Oberlin’s Multicultural Resource Center.

Prior to Oberlin, he held faculty and administrative roles at Duke and Syracuse Universities, including chairing a presidential task force on LGBT matters at Duke and working on professional development programs at Syracuse.

Estes has co/taught courses on various topics including modern Germany and the Holocaust, gender and mass violence, and Asian American student activism. He has organized numerous conferences, given lectures internationally, and received several prestigious grants and fellowships.

Currently, Estes is a Trinity College Board of Trustees member and has served as president of the college’s national alumni association. He chaired the steering board for the Consortium on High Achievement and Success (CHAS) and is actively involved in local community organizations, including the Boys and Girls Club of Rhode Island and the Providence Public Library.
