Edwin Melendez Death, Famous choreographer and coach Edwin Melendez has died

Edwin Melendez Death – Famous choreographer and coach Edwin Melendez has sadly passed away. He was announced dead through a social media publication that read “I’m still processing and finding the right words to say…but for right now I just can’t believe my friend Edwin Melendez is gone. You had such a light and carefree way of seeing the world that I wish I had.

Almost 20 years of friendship, almost 20 years of talking pretty much every day, and my heart is breaking knowing I won’t see those messages from you pop up anymore. Get some rest my friend….heaven is gonna need you to fly point here very soon”

Who was Edwin Melendez?
Edwin Melendez was a USASF Certified Levels 1-6, Green light background check, CPR and First Aid Certified. He also had a Hip Hop Dance background (placed top 3 out of 230 dancers in a FAMEus competition in 2006, won numerous Regional and National dance tittles in group and solo divisions). Edwin danced with Paula Abdul for the superbowl preshow. As well as choreographed magic all stars fantasy in 2019 for the New Kids on the block tour in Anaheim, California.

He have grown in the cheerleading industry by starting and developing his own brand of Choreography called WINchoreograpghy. Edwin worked and choreographed Regional and National High School and Middle School teams, and college teams like Concordia University, Cal Baptist University, El Camino High School, California High School, Van Nuys High School, Notre Dame High School, Centennial High School, Santa Monica High School and many more.

Edwin has also choreographed Regional, National, Summit and World winning routines for All Star programs like American Cheer, Pacific Coast Magic, USA Starz, GymTyme, Corona Starz, West Coast Rush All Stars, Stealth All Stars, Fusion Elite, Cheer Extreme, JustCheer, All Star One, Xtreme Athletix, West Coast Fame, ACA, Cheer St. Louis, X-Out Cheerleading (Canada), Center Coyotes (Canada), and Pacific Coast Magic – Costa Rica.

Our hearts are breaking as we learn of the passing of our beloved choreographer and friend, Edwin Melendez. A creative genius, Edwin made choreography fun by motivating our athletes and inspiring our coaches. His impact on Phoenix Elite has left an incredible legacy, playing an instrumental part in our growth through not only his innovative choreography, but also his support, advice, and friendship over the past 5 years.

We are so thankful to have experienced a small part of the big impact he’s made on the industry, and our summers will never be the same. Our love is with his family, friends, and the many individuals who have had the pleasure of knowing Edwin. 5, 6, 7, 8 #iflyoriquit

It is with deep sadness and heavy hearts that we inform you of the death of our choreographer and friend, Edwin Melendez, who passed away this morning, May 14th.
We will all miss him more than words can express. Edwin visited us 3-4 times a year to choreograph, upgrade, and prepare. He remembered every athlete by name, or nickname, year after year, and gave us his absolute best every day. We will never be able to thank him enough for what he has done for our program.
