Dr. Brian Focht Obituary – Dr. Brian C. Focht, a professor of Kinesiology in the Department of Human Sciences has reportedly passed away. The areas of exercise and health psychology/behavior were the focus of his research and professional interests.

He placed a particular emphasis on exercise oncology, the promotion of physical activity in the prevention and management of chronic diseases, and the impact of exercise on quality of life and psychological well-being.

Professor Focht served as the Director of the Exercise and Behavioral Medicine Lab at Ohio State University. In addition, he was an associate member of the Comprehensive Cancer Center and the Food Innovation Center at the university.

More than one hundred scientific articles have been authored by Dr. Focht, and the National Cancer Institute, the National Institute of Arthritis, Musculoskeletal, and Skin Disorders, the LIVESTRONG Foundation, and the Ohio State University Comprehensive Cancer Center and Food Innovation Center have all provided financial support for his study. Dr. Focht was a member of the National Academy of Kinesiology and the American College of Sports Medicine.

He was also a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist by the National Strength and Conditioning Association. Additionally, he has worked as a consultant for the National Institutes of Health, the Italian Ministry of Health, and the Canadian Cancer Society.
