Derek Emmanuel Barbosa Death, American rapper and actor Chino XL has died

Derek Emmanuel Barbosa Death – Derek Emmanuel Barbosa passed away on July 29th 2024. American rapper and actor Derek Emmanuel Barbosa was better known by his stage moniker Chino XL.

He had four studio albums out on his own. The Black Rosary (2012) was the winner of the 2012 HHUG Album of the Year Award. The circumstances surrounding Derek Emmanuel Barbosa’s cause of death is currently unknown.

After signing with Hollywood talent manager Stacey Castro, Barbosa began her career as an actor, participating in several movies and television shows. She then made guest appearances on Comedy Central’s Reno 911! and CBS’s CSI: Miami.

His credits for feature films include Brandon Sonnier’s The Beat, which had its Sundance Film Festival premiere, and Rob Reiner’s Alex & Emma, in which he costarred with Kate Hudson and Luke Wilson. Bernie Worrell of the band Parliament/Funkadelic is his nephew. Barbosa belongs to Mensa as well.

Although Chino XL was raised in different areas of New Jersey, he was born in The Bronx, New York. Before he was even born, his African American mother was abandoned by his father, who was of Puerto Rican origin. His single mother reared him.

The 16-year-old rapper was signed by music mogul Rick Rubin to his American Recordings label, which was formerly a division of Warner Bros. Records, at the age of sixteen, following his co-founding of the duo Art of Origin.

In 1996, he released his debut album, Here to Save You All, to great praise from critics. Radio and MTV gave the lead single “Kreep,” which included an interpolation of the Radiohead song “Creep,” a lot of playing. From July 1996 to January 1997, Kreep spent a record 23 weeks on the Billboard Bubbling Under R&B Chart.
