Born and raised in Lake Geneva, Wisconsin, Andy Michnay grew up embracing a love for skiing. Despite the Midwest’s modest slopes lacking the powder runs of Colorado, Andy’s enthusiasm for the sport flourished. His dedication eventually led him to Steamboat Springs, Colorado, where he made a profound impact as a coach and mentor.
Andy’s journey in skiing began over 13 years ago. He honed his skills and developed a deep connection with the sport, transitioning seamlessly from enthusiast to professional. He joined the Steamboat Park Crew in 2006, a role that allowed him to combine his love for skiing with his knack for creativity.
Andy’s talents extended beyond the slopes; he also enjoyed filming and editing skiing videos, many of which were featured on Copper Mountain’s and Steamboat’s official pages. His artistry captured the energy and excitement of skiing, inspiring countless viewers and showcasing his unique perspective.
Andy’s commitment to personal growth was evident in his educational and professional pursuits. He attended Badger High School in Lake Geneva before furthering his studies at Colorado Mountain College in Steamboat Springs.
It was in Steamboat that Andy truly found his calling, dedicating himself to the development of young athletes through the SSWSC. As a freeskiing coach, he played an instrumental role in shaping the skills and character of his students, instilling in them a love for skiing and a drive for excellence.
