Crash at intersection in West Springfield
After a collision that occurred on Monday at a crossroads in West Springfield, a vehicle was discovered lying on its side flipped over. A collision occurred at the intersection of Route 20 and Poplar Avenue around 8:32 a.m. on Monday, according to Sergeant Joseph LaFrance of the West Springfield Police Department.
Crews were dispatched to the scene. Upon arrival, the responders discovered a vehicle that had been flipped over to one side. The driver and two children, who were safely seated in their car seats, need assistance from the fire brigade in order to exit the vehicle.
When they were injured, each of them was sent to Baystate Medical Center for treatment. During the forty-five minutes when traffic was rerouted around that spot, the road is now open to traffic. Officers came to the conclusion that the driver had lost control of the vehicle and had a collision with a telephone pole, which resulted in the vehicle flipping over.
This was caused by a broken component in the vehicle’s suspension. Due to the mishap, Eversource is currently conducting an inspection of the telephone pole that was destroyed.
In the wake of this tragic incident, we extend our deepest condolences to the families affected by this heart-wrenching loss. As they grapple with the indescribable pain of bidding farewell to their loved ones, we share in their sorrow and stand in solidarity during this time of profound grief.
