Dave Jaques Auckland, NZ Lawyer False Suicide Investigation: Police say 57-year-old Dave Jaques has been arrested after faking a death-by-hanging act on an Auckland Motorway on Monday morning.

Dave Jaques was taken into custody after appearing to have been injured on the East Tāmaki overbridge – an act which prompted a massive police presence and major traffic around 7 A.M.

Following the incident, Southern Highway northbound was closed to traffic due to the police investigation. The Auckland Lawyer & Businessman was taken into custody by the Counties Manukau Police. The department stated that he was being questioned.

Who Was Dave Jaques?
Dave Jaques was a lawyer and co-founder of the Suicide Reduction Trust. He is a graduate of Law at Victoria University of Wellington.

He is a father of three beautiful children and the husband of Deena Jaques. Dave traveled the world and was very interested in the differences between cultures and what people could learn from each other.

In February 2024, Dave joined with Warren Megget -the Chair, of Papakura Rotary- to form the Suicide Reduction Trust. Dave was a member of the EMA and Auckland Chamber of Commerce.

Counties Manukau Police released the following statement: A man has been arrested following a dangerous incident in East Tāmaki this morning. Emergency services were called following reports of a man who appeared to be injured on the East Tāmaki overbridge on the Southern Motorway at about 7.46 am.

Inspector Danny Meade says upon arrival, Police located the man who was pretending to be injured as part of what we can only describe as reckless behavior in an attempt to gain publicity.

This ia an active investigation.
